Birthday Smash Cake Photoshoot: “And.. they named him King of All Wild Things!”

Hey ya’ll! So my baby finally turned one in July! Crazy, right?! I feel like I was just welcoming him into the world, like yesterday. So, of course I cried like a baby.. and then had to pull myself together so I could make this a first birthday to remember! Anyways, I am so glad that I finally found the time to share this with you all. So, please forgive me for taking so long! Anyways..

I am sure you have all heard about smash cakes. It is like the thing to do once your little one turns one. Basically, you place a cake in front of your little one and take photos as they dig into the cake. So FUN! It makes a mess, but it so worth it. I could NOT wait to style this photoshoot for my little boy’s first birthday. I had a million ideas and Pinterest boards while deciding on the perfect theme for Avery’s very first birthday. My husband thought I was absolutely CRAZY!!! But, that is nothing new. And.. by now, he is totally use to it.

I had to have a pre-party photoshoot for my little guy that would get everyone excited about the upcoming event. I even made my little dude’s photoshoot smash cake all on my VERY own. So, there is no pastry chef or bakery to credit or thank.. other than a good ole’ box of Betty Crocker and myself. I have to admit, I was pretty darn proud of myself! lol.

I was really looking forward to watching Avery dig into the cake, but to my surprise.. he did NOT like the idea too much. lol. I guess it was a little too messy for him? I wonder where he gets that from??? Haha. So, this photoshoot is not as messy as others I have seen. But, I still think they turned out absolutely doll!
